More Portable Devices News
At CES 2007 SanDisk showed me the Sansa View, which was nothing like what you see here today. The original View was totally renovated for the product that actually launched today. What you see here is a much smaller device that looks less like a PDA and more like the other members of the Sansa family that SanDisk showed off at CES 2007.
The changes certainly aren’t a bad thing; the original was large. What we have here is a very thin device, albeit with a smaller display. The View has 16GB of flash memory built-in and can be expanded with up to 8GB microSD/microSDHC cards.
The view player can play H.264, WMV, and MPEG4. The screen is a 2.4” TFT 320 x 240 widescreen device and you can view photos on it as well. A digital FM tuner is built-in that can hold 20 presets. A built-in mic allows for voice recording and the device supports download and subscription services like Rhapsody To Go, Napster, eMusic and others.
Two capacities are available with the 16GB we have mentioned already and a smaller 8GB device. The 8GB Sansa View will retail for $149.99 and the 16GB version will go for $199.99.
