Microsoft announced a new wireless mouse aimed at notebook users today called the Mobile Memory Mouse 8000. I always feel like I should sing the names of Microsoft’s peripherals to the tune of Mystery Science Theater 3000.
As the name implies this is a wireless mouse, that has storage built-in. Rather than building the flash memory into the mouse, Microsoft put the flash storage into the USB adapter that provides the wireless connectivity. The adapter hides 1GB of flash storage.
Taking a page form Apple, the mouse recharges by USB and features a magnetic charger. The 2.4GHz wireless technology should be good for long range with little interference. The mouse uses laser technology, and while sensitivity is not mentioned, we can assume it to be 800dpi – 1000 dpi safely. Naturally, the mouse is optimized for Vista and has five buttons, but the mouse will work with Mac as well.
