Thursday PC Mag published the first iPod touch review. Gizmodo published their review of the new touch controlled iPod yesterday.
Quote from the review: "What we haven't yet reported is that the battery life is ridiculously good, well over the 5 hours of video advertised by Apple.
In a NYC-to-SF flight today, it refused to die, playing video almost constantly for 6 hours and 45 minutes. We had the Wi-Fi turned off, but if you're smart you would turn it off on planes too. At least until Virgin launches Wi-Fi in 2008."

What also is finally confirmed is that the iPod touch does not have Bluetooth, as this dissected iPod touch shows on ifixit.
The Apple iPod touch is supposed to be in (some) Apple stores this weekend. Online the iPod touch is slated to ship at the end of September from the Apple store and Amazon.com.
