More Notebooks and PCs News
Dell announced today the world’s most secure commercial notebooks with their Latitude D630 and D830.1 systems. The systems use the Seagate Momentus full disk encryption (FDE) hard drives to encrypt the entire contents of the hard drive.
The encryption on these systems is always on and a password is required to even get the computers to boot. Dell also uses EMBASSY Trust Suite for Dell 3.0 Enterprise software and Embassy Remote Administration Server.
These pieces of software allow users to manage encrypted drives, setup and recover passwords, access user management and pre-boot authentication. The Remote administration portion allows verification that sensitive data was encrypted on lost notebooks.
