Fujitsu introduced a new document scanner for Mac users today called the ScanSnap S510M. The scanner comes with enhanced functionality for searchable PDF creating, advanced paper handling for delicate documents, added filing sheets, and a new Quick Menu interface.
The scanner also comes bundled with software to enable PDF document creation with the touch of one button. The S510M also comes with ABBYY FineReader 3.0 for ScanSnap, which is a custom built character recognition software.
The S510M can scan directly to email, save to searchable folders, or send scans to a printer directly. Optical resolution is up to 600 dpi and the scanner is able to scan both sides of a page at once thanks to dual 600 dpi optical array. The S510M is available now for $495 and is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 tiger or PowerPC based computers. Scan speed is up to 18ppm for single sided documents and 36ppm for double sided documents.
