If you use a mobile phone that has internal GPS capabilities Garmin has announced a new software solution that turns compatible smartphones with internal GPS into Garmin Navigators. Garmin Mobile XT includes pre-loaded maps and access to dynamic content like real-time traffic and fuel prices.
The Garmin Mobile XT software comes loaded on a microSD card that includes Garmin navigation software for the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. You can also get map data for Europe as well.
When the microSD card is inserted into a compatible Smartphone, the software will launch automatically, greeting users with the familiar Garmin “Where to” and “Map View” prompts. A very cool feature is the PeerPoints built into the software that allows users to send their position to other phones and allows users to view and navigate to the location of other Garmin Mobile XT users. The software is available now for $99.
