Halo 3 had what is being called one of the largest entertainment releases in of all time. Halo 3 sold more than $300 Million in its first week of availability. This sales figures put Halo 3 as the fastest-selling video game ever.

Microsoft says reports from retailer’s worldwide show that console sales have more than doubled compared with the weekly average before the release of Halo 3. This shows us that not only are existing Xbox owners buying Halo 3, but the game is driving new hardware sales as well.

These record first week sales volumes come after Halo 3 set records with $170 million in sales in the first 24 hours after launch. Looking at the numbers you can easily see more than half the total first week of sales was made in the first 24 hours after release of the game.
