I am really impressed, Nokia announced the Nokia N81 in August and today the company announces that the Nokia N81 and Nokia N81 8GB multimedia computers are already available now globally.
I have criticized Nokia several times for taking close to a year after the announcement of a new phone to actually ship it. Now they are down to 2 months.
Features of the compact Nokia N81 include 2.4 inch QVGA color screen, Wifi, 2MP camera with flash and 20x digital zoom, FM tuner, hot swappable microSD card slot, 17 days standby, 240 min. GSM talktime, 4.5 hours video playback time and 11.5 hours music playback time.
Measurements of the Nokia N81 are 102x50x17.9 mm and the weight is 140g.
As a bonus the Nokia N81 ships with a preview of the N-Gage games service including playable demos of EA SPORTS(TM) FIFA 07, Asphalt 3: Street Rules and Space Impact Light.
Nokia also highlights the music player, Nokia music store, and the 3D Multimedia Menu of the Nokia N81.
The estimated retail price of the Nokia N81 is 360 EUR (~$514) before subsidies or taxes. The Nokia N81 8GB is expected to retail for 430 EUR (~$615) before subsidies or taxes.
Amazon.com already sells the unlocked Nokia N81 8GB for $549.99.
