In August of 2006, we first talked about a SD card for digital cameras that featured built-in WiFi for automatically transferring photos to your PC. Today the Eye-Fi wireless memory card is available for purchase.
The card has 2GB of internal storage and works with any camera supporting SD cards. The internal WiFi transmitter allows you to send the images stored on the card to your computer automatically. After set-up, the Eye-Fi also allows you to choose from 17 different online photo-sharing applications, printing programs, social networks and blog sites for your images to upload to automatically.
The 2GB Eye-Fi card is available now for $99.99 at Amazon.com, Buy.com, Walmart.com and more locations. "Digital cameras have made it extremely easy to take pictures, but the rest of the process is a hassle," said Jef Holove, chief executive officer of Eye-Fi. "The Eye-Fi Card removes the barriers and lets users get to the fun part of sharing and printing their memories. We're putting the magic back into photography."
