Disney Online announced the Pirates of the Caribbean Online MMOG video game for Mac and Windows PCs. The game allows thousands of players to experience adventures from the movies and explore other areas of the world.

The quest is to become the most legendary pirate on the seas. "The launch of Pirates of the Caribbean Online opens up an entirely new world of pirate adventures to thousands of fans who can now play alongside their favorite characters in a fully-immersive environment that builds on and goes beyond the epic stories created in the films," said Paul Yanover, Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Disney Online. "We believe the game's focus on action and adventure, combined with many customization options will appeal to a broad audience of both gamers and fans of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise as they set out on their own course to live the legend."

Players can customize their own pirate character from over a million combinations of body types, face, hair, clothing etc. You can also captain your own ship and recruit other players to be your crew. Both ship and land based missions to locate buried treasure are offered and battles using swords, grenades, pistols, and canons are available. The game is rated E10+ and is downloaded free with a portion available at no charge. Unlimited access is $4.95 for the first month and $9.95 for following months.
