Broadcom announced today the world’s first Bluetooth headset solution with noise cancellation, enabling premium call quality at more affordable prices. The Broadcom product is the first Bluetooth audio solution offering noise and echo suppression without needing expensive flash memory and digital signal processing components.

Broadcom says that Bluetooth headsets represent the second largest segment of the Bluetooth market right behind mobile handsets. Broadcom announced the Broadcom BCM2044S using SmartAudio noise and echo reduction to enhance call quality without expensive components. The technology used in the solution reduces cost by 40%.

The new solution is also footprint compatible with the old BCM2044 allowing a common hardware platform. "Rounding out our new family of audio solutions, the BCM2044S and related reference design enable OEMs to differentiate their headset offerings with superior features, while reducing BOM and manufacturing costs to protect their bottom lines."
