Korean research institute ETRI demonstrates two emotional robots they developed.
Kobie looks like a plush Koala bear. The robot is able to recognize human faces, make eye contact, and express emotions through sounds.
The scary looking Rabie is based on a reasoning engine dubbed Bossam. Rabie is able to play word guessing games in English.
The robot tries to guess things a human is thinking of by asking questions.
Both robots work with Wifi connections that connect them to PCs where their 'brain' is running. By not having a computer integrated the new robots are cheaper to build.
More details on the Chosun.
