Gibson announced a new guitar that uses robotic technology to prevent tuning problems for guitarists. The Gibson Robot Guitar automatically tunes itself to standard A440 tuning. The guitar also provides access to six commonly used altered tuning presets at the touch of a button.
The robot guitar has five components including a control knob that serves as the volume knob and enables tuning with a push or pull. Each tuner uses a servo motor and adjusts the pitch of the strings with a tune-control bridge.
The first run of the Gibson Robot guitar will be very limited with only 400 dealers around the world participating with only 10 guitars each. The robot guitars will go on sale on December 7th 2007 and will be in an exclusive Blue Silverburst Les Paul model. Pricing is unknown at this time.
