As reported Amazon is supposed to introduce a e-book reader gadget today. Newsweek has published a indepth cover story on the new Amazon Kindle e-book reader already.

For Jeff Bezos the Kindle e-book reader is the most important thing Amazon has ever done.

"This is the most important thing we've ever done," Bezos tells Senior Editor and Columnist Steven Levy, the first journalist to have access to the Kindle, in the current issue of Newsweek. "It's so ambitious to take something as highly evolved as the book and improve on it. And maybe even change the way people read."

The cover image of Newsweek confirms the design of Kindle that already floated around on the web. It is not too sexy, but if it works well and it has a chance. The price of $399 for the Book 2.0 is too high though in my mind. Amazon prices Kindle editions of New York Times best sellers and new releases in hardback at $9.99, which is a very attractive price-point.

Kindle is always on and can directly connect via EV-DO to the Amazon e-book store, where you can shop for new books and magazine right away.
