Pricegrabber.com has released a list of its top five things you didn’t expect to see on Black Friday. PriceGrabber estimates the total volume of merchant referrals generated to sellers on Black Friday and said that its referral have increased by 47% this year over last year.
The top five things PriceGrabber didn’t expect to see include that Black Friday shopping started on Thursday this year. This fact has been reported from other merchants as well. It makes me wonder if we will begin seeing more retailers staying open longer hours on Thanksgiving next year.
Unsurprisingly to me the Nintendo Wii dominated console sales by 467% over other gaming systems. More searches were made for the Microsoft Zune than all models in the iPod line. PG says that interest in the Zune has increased 246%. Women’s apparel was big with a 100% increase in activity. PG also says that toys built in the USA have seen a giant 650% increase in keyword searches. This is due in part to the massive recalls of Chinese made toys this year.
