Fujitsu has announced the world’s highest capacity notebook hard drive with 320GB of storage space. The MHZ2 BH series HDD uses perpendicular magnetic recording technology and has a 5400 rpm spindle speed.
The drive uses 3.0GB/sec SATA interface providing read speeds of up to 300MB per second. Fujitsu says the read seek time is 12ms and the write seek time is 14ms. Idle power consumption is only 0.6w.
Read and write power consumption is 1.9W and standby/sleep power needs are only 0.13w. These are best-in-class power consumption figures and will help stretch battery life as much as possible. The new 320GB drive will be available in February of 2008 at an undisclosed price.
