Best Buy is trying to make holiday shopping easier and more enjoyable for shoppers this year. Best Buy is trying to do this by making changes to their store and online. The new in-store and online initiatives for the 2007 holiday season include new customer assistance. Best Buy says it has cross-trained about 30% of its floor sales staff to the new Customer Assistant position. These assistants are trained in all areas of the store.

The returns policy has also been extended with the product return deadline extended to January 31. That means gifts purchased as early as November 4th can be returned until January 31. This even includes items with a traditional 14-day return period like computers.

Best Buy has also added a Spanish language website for Spanish speaking customers. Traditionally one of the worst things about Best Buy is having to call the store to see if an item is in stock. Best buy has added new sales operators that can consult on purchases, call up inventory, and even place items on hold and perform sales transactions.
