A study from In-Stat shows that a trend for young wireless users in the U.S. is emerging with more and more young users not using traditional phone services. More and more of these users are forgoing landline phones in favor of wireless phones only. The study says that the typical cord cutter is under 35 and typically has a small household and a lower income than traditional phone users.

Study results show that cord cutters use 22% more cellular minutes that the average respondent and 40% more minutes than those not interested in getting rid of landline phones. 24% of study respondents also said that they would consider replacing a landline with a mobile phone.

Potential cord cutters according to the study have the highest use of group or family plans and have the highest average spending of about $111.41 per month. I don’t see many being shocked by these numbers. I gave up my landline years ago in favor of all wireless. There is a lot to gain there and the landline was redundant for me as I am sure it is for many.
