We reported about the Sony OLED XEL-1 TV review on the Japanese technology news site Tech-On last week.
The testers over there did not stop at trying out the first commercially available OLED TV, they now opened it up.
It is surprising, but there is something inside the 3mm thin screen.
See the photos of the opened OLED screen here and here.
Tech-On also opened the Sony XEL-1 TV Stand where all the actual electronics is housed. Sony used massive heat dissipation parts inside. See the photos in this story.
It is still not known if Sony will release their first OLED TV outside of Japan. I am not sure if there would be many buyers for an 11 inch TV at a price of about $1,740. Sure it is thin and has high-contrast, but at 11 inches it is more decorative than useful.
I am pretty sure we will see some OLED TVs at the CES 2008.
