As reported last summer Mitsubishi will show a Laser TV at the CES 2008 in January. This was apparently confirmed at the iSuppli's Flat Information Displays (FID) 2007 conference in Las Vegas.
Additionally Greg Niven, EVP of marketing at Novalux said in a statement to Digitimes that Laser-based rear-projection sets are close to commercialization and anticipated the first product introductions in 2008.
Mr. Niven also confirms again the advantages of Laser TV technologies with a bill of materials (BOM) to be reduced anywhere from $50 to $200, while offering lower power consumption, thinner panels and brighter, better contrast.
More details on Digitimes.
Mitsubishi announced the first Laser projection TV back in 2006 and said they would bring Laser TVs to market in 2007.
We will definitely look out for Laser TVs at the CES 2008 and report about them if they indeed show up.
