Omron is getting ready for global rollout of WiMAX service with the world’s first global WiMAX antenna for notebook computers. Called the HAWK-WMX the antenna is designed for notebooks, tablets, and UMPC systems.
Omron says the antenna is much smaller than other antennas on the market allowing it to fit under the lid of notebook computers. The antenna uses Omron high dielectric polymer material and precision molding technology and measures only 30mm x 6.6mm.
Despite the small size the antenna can deliver RF performance in all three global WiMAX bands including 2.3-2.8 GHz, 3.3-3.8GHz, and 5.25 – 5.85 GHz. Omron says the HAWK-WMX in MIMO compliant allowing it to be used in conjunction with WiFi 802.11n antennas as well.
