More Hardware & Peripherals News
NVIDIA officially announced today its latest extreme gaming set up called 3-way SLI. NVIDIA says that 3-way SLI gives up to a 2.8x performance increase over a single graphics card. This is what the three PCI Express slots in the NVIDIA 680i mainboard were meant for.
Currently only NVIDIA 8800 GTX and Ultra graphics cards support 3-way SLI and an NVIDIA 680 MCP mainboard is required. Existing 680i mainboards can support 3-way SLI with a bios update.
I am hoping we will see this 3-way technology rolled out to other video cards in the NVIDIA lineup. The ability to upgrade to a third graphics card on an existing platform when the additional performance is needed would be a fantastic option.
