Sharp announces the IrSimple ultra-thin IR components for use in camera mobile phones.
Ir is still not dead yet, despite Bluetooth. The bandwidth has been increased so you can also transmit photos in reasonable timeframes. The only disadvantage is that the iR sensor and receiver need to have line of sight.
The new Sharp IrSimple IrDA components are only 1.75mm thick and fit in the slimmest mobile phone without any problem.
The production starts in December.
