The Dash Express is the first navigation system with two-way internet connectivity and it is available for pre-order now for $599.99.

The Dash Express will ship at the end of February 2008. Included in the package is 1 month of free Dash Service and 2 more free months when you join MyDash.

The always-on Dash Express GPS device promises to give you up-to-the-minute traffic data that is automatically exchanged with other Dash devices.
With the Dash Express you can also find anything you need with Yahoo! Local search.
The map software is of course always updated and you can send addresses from any computer right to your car with Send2Car.
The Dash Service costs $9.99 per month if you pre-pay for a two-year plan or $12.99 per month with a month-to-month commitment.
The Dash Express uses Wifi and GPRS (cellular) networks to keep the device constantly connected.

It is clear that the future of GPS devices is in being connected to the net at all times to enhance the navigation with real-time traffic awareness and give access to localized and current information like the lowest gas price near you.

Engadget already had the pleasure of testing a pre-production Dash Express and they are quite taken by it.

Dash may be the first to offer an always-on GPS device, but Garmin and TomTom are no doubt working on the same thing. It will be interesting to watch how far Dash will come, before the big guys enter this level of functionality.
