InPlay Technologies announced its latest human interface device platform today called the MPCD-970. The device is an integrated active pen and multi-finger touch capacitive input device. The two methods of input allow for handwriting recognition and fast proximity sensing.
"This solution builds on our dual-mode resistive touch solution. Partnering with a leading supplier of capacitive touch technology, we have developed a product that integrates a multi-finger capacitive touch solution with our digital pen product. We have also worked closely with our tier-one manufacturing partner to support cost efficiencies and high quality manufacturing," said Ramesh Ramchandani, President and COO, InPlay.
This new input technology will eventually make it into UMPCs, smartphones and PDA devices. The ability to use multiple fingers and stylus based input will make a big difference in the world of touch screen input devices.
