The best way to reduce unneeded power cables is with a modular power supply. Real world Labs has a review of the E-Power EP-1000-P10 PSU and in the end says it is a good performer.
RWLabs says the E-Power PSU is worthy of consideration next to Thermaltake, Cooler Master, and PC Power and Cooling when shopping in the $364.99 to $249.99 price range.
