Alereon and LitePoint announced that they will be showing off a new chip family and a test system covering all worldwide wireless USB bands at WiMedia speeds at CES.
The Alereon AL5000 reference design is in LitePoint’s test system and will highlight band group 6, which is the only worldwide approved group. "It's great to finally have a chip family that covers the full WiMedia specifications," added LitePoint CEO, Benny Madsen. "Now, we actually have a reference design that supports all six band groups and WiMedia data rates. As a result, we can show our single-box test prototype's ability to support full development and fast, low-cost, high-volume testing."
Wireless USB is a very exciting product that promises to remove the mass of wires associated with typical computers and their USB connected peripherals. Products we will see Wireless USB used for include digital cameras, cell phones, and MP3 players among others.
