Sanyo just released CES press-release announces the Sanyo Xacti HD1000 and HD700.

The Sanyo Xacti HD1000 was already introduced in Japan in August. I understand a bit that Sanyo is now introducing 'the world's smallest and lightest full HD digital camcorder' again for the U.S. market at the CES 2008.

What I do not understand is that Sanyo is introducing the HD700, which many of you already found under the Christmas tree as it already sold pretty well through the holidays from Amazon.com. Marketing - hard to wrap your head around it.

Back to the Sanyo HD1000, which is also shipping now from Amazon.com already for $679.99.

The HD1000 is records video in Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) (its actually just 1080i and not 1080p) and also takes 4-megapixel digital still images. The HD1000 utilizes the advanced MPEG-4 AVC/H.246 video format and features a 10x optical HD lens and a large 2.7-inch widescreen display.

CES 2008 will start officially on January 7th, but the first event is already on Saturday. We are in Las Vegas and will be covering the CES 2008 first hand.
