Panasonic just wrapped its first CES press conference and while it held the announcement of some products till a later press conference here at CES, Panasonic did announce a number of really cool products. The first produce is a new plasma full HD 42-inch HDTV.
Anyone who has shopped for HDTV sets knows that typically anything under 50-inch is LCD only. The addition of a full HD 1080p plasma in a 46-inch size will make it easier for those with smaller rooms to enjoy plasma technology with its typically better contrast rations and brightness. The Viera TH-46PZ850 also features an AVCHD SD card slot for playing HDS content on the TV directly from an SD card. Pricing for the 46-inch plasma and available were not commented on. Panasonic also announced a new Viera TC-37LZ800 37-inch LCD HDTV that features a 10000:1 contrast ratio and four HDMI slots as well as the built-in SD card slot.
One of the most interesting announcements was of a new home theater in a box that includes a Blu-ray player as well as uses wireless rear speakers. The system also includes a flip-down iPod dock, an AVCHD SD card slot for playing HD movies back from your camera or camcorder directly through the Blu-ray player. The Blu-ray player also features the new “Bonus View” specifications.
