Comcast partnered with Panasonic to develop a portabel DVR dubbed AnyPlay.
The Comcast AnyPlay is powered by tru2way technology and will let Comcast customers record programming at home and take it with them wherever they go.
The AnyPlay P-DVR incorporates digital video recording functionality into a Panasonic portable DVD player platform. The AnyPlay P-DVR features 60GB of digital video recording capacity, an 8.5” folding LCD display screen, and integrated stereo speakers. When placed on a companion docking station, the AnyPlay P-DVR functions as a standard DVR set-top box that lets viewers watch and record their favorite television programs from their television sets.
However, unlike a traditional set-top box, the AnyPlay P-DVR can be taken out of its docking station, so recorded programs can be watched anywhere in or out of the home. The AnyPlay P-DVR can also playback DVDs and audio CDs.
The Comcast AnyPlay Portable DVR is expected to be available in early 2009.
CES 2008 officially starts today. The flood gates to the CES show floor in Las Vegas will open and we get to see all the beautiful new TVs, gadgets, and booth babes.
