Everex officially announced the Cloudbook Linux (gOS) UMPC at the CES 2008. This hot 7 inch Asus Eee PC contender will sell for $399 starting on January 25th on Walmart.
Measuring 9" in length and 2 pounds in weight, the Everex CloudBook features 7 inch screen with 800 x 480px resolution, a 1.2GHz VIA C7-M ULV mobile processor, 5 hours of battery life on a 4-cell, lithium-ion battery, 512MB RAM, 30GB HDD, Wifi, digital video output (DVI-I), 4-in-1 card reader, and 1.3MP webcam.
The CloudBook CE1200V, runs the gOS operating system and familiar applications from Mozilla, Skype, Google, Facebook, Faqly and OpenOffice.org.
The Everex CloudBook is set to compete hard with the category leader Asus. $399 is a great price point considering you get a 30GB HDD, where as Asus only offers 8GB (Asus Eee 8G) at the maximum and costs $100 more.
