Indian Tata Motors announces what they call the People’s Car. The Tata Nano (I feel sorry for Apple) is supposed to sell for only $2,500.
Tata Motors announced the Tata Nano at the 9th Auto Expo in New Delhi.
The small car is designed for families. It measures a length of 3.1 meters, a width of 1.5 meters and height of 1.6 meters.
The Tata Nano is powered by a 2 cylinder, 623cc, 33hp engine.
With an all sheet-metal body, it has a strong passenger compartment, with safety features such as crumple zones, intrusion-resistant doors, seat belts, strong seats and anchorages, and the rear tailgate glass bonded to the body. Tubeless tires further enhance safety.
The Tata Nano will be launched in India later in 2008. See photos of the Tata Nano.
