At the CES 2008, Alienware got a lot of attention for their curved DLP monitor. Today I just stumbled over coverage from MacWorld Expo 2008 where NEC also showed a curved DLP monitor.

NEC calls their curved display prototype CRVD-LMD. The Alienware branded and the NEC branded curved displays are the same and made by Ostendo Technologies.

NEC revealed some specifications for this cool looking display: 42.4" inch diagonal, 2,880x900px resolution, response time <0.02ms, 10,000:1 contrast ratio. The price could be around $5,000 if NEC actually brings this prototype to the market. With all the attention Alienware got for this immersive video game display, NEC should definitely hurry up.
