Taiwanese mobile phone manufacturer HTC sold 2 million HTC touch Windows smartphones (via Yahoo!). This is half of the number of iPhones Apple has sold so far.

HTC timed the release of the HTC touch to compete directly with the iPhone last Summer. Overall HTC sold 11.8 million handsets in 2007.
HTC announced that they would enter the UMPC market with the HTC Shift in March 2007. The release got pushed back quite a bit and it seems Asia will see the HTC Shift in February. I think it is too late for this device, unless HTC will offer it under $500, if not Linux powered UMPCs will eat its lunch.

The current HTC Touch has a so called TouchFLO screen that allows you to control the phone with touch and sweeps of your finger. TouchFLO also distinguishes between finger and stylus input and then responds accordingly. Features of the HTC Touch include a 2.8 QVGA screen, 2MP camera, Wifi, GSM/GPRS/EDGE Tri-band: 900, 1800, 1900, Bluetooth, 200 hours standby and 5 hours talktime.

Unlocked HTC touch phones are available at Amazon.com.
