Synaptics is showing off a buttonless remote control concept for the digital home called Boomerang. Synaptics says the concept is designed as a control center for all home digital entertainment.
Boomerang is a concept built to show off Synaptics capacitive sensing technology and the maker says all of the components used in the concept are available now for OEMs interested in making similar devices.
Synaptics uses the same tech found in its touchpad technology, which is probably used in your notebook computer. The remote allows for direct cursor control and for advanced gestures like pinch, ChiralMotion and Momentum. While specifics aren’t mentioned Synaptics says the touch controls provide tactile feedback in addition to visual and audio feedback.
