Sony announced a pair of new entry level digital cameras called the Cyber-shot DSC-S750 and DSC-S780. Both cameras feature Sony face detection technology and can identify up to three faces in a shot and adjust for exposure and focus.
Both entry level cameras are powered by lithium-ion rechargeable batteries and bodies only 1-inch thick. The difference between the two cameras is in the resolution of the CCD sensors.
The DSC-S780 is an 8.1 megapixel camera and the DSC-S750 is a 7.2 megapixel camera. Both feature a 2.5-inch LCD and 3x optical zoom lens. Internal memory is 22MB and optional Memory Stick expansion is available up to 16GB. The Sony DSC-S750 camera ships in March for about $150, the DSC-S780 ships in April for about $180 along with accessories for each camera.
