If you and your friends are heavy users of social networking sites and you want an easier way of keeping up with their posts and new content Chirp is here to help. Chirp is a screensaver that displays content from your customized list of social networking profiles.
As your friend writes new blog posts, uploads new photos or video the chirp screen saver will display the content on your computer. "Screen savers run on hundreds of millions of computers, yet there's been very little innovation over the past decade in the user experience," said James Slavet of Greylock Partners. "chirpscreen cleverly transforms the screen saver into a tool for staying more closely connected to your personal network. This product is a very promising first step in Chirp's roadmap of deeper social applications."
The screen saver also allows you to interact directly with the content and the content providers directly from the screensaver itself. The public beta version of Chirp is available now at Chirp.com. Chirp has the financial backing of some notable firms including Greylock Partners, Jeff Clavier's SoftTech VC, and angel investors Reid Hoffman (Chairman and founder of LinkedIn), Jay Adelson (CEO of Digg), and Dave Samuel (founder of Spinner.com and Grouper).
