OKI will demonstrate their interesting Face Sensing Engine, Iris recognition and eSound voice recognition solutions at the Mobile World Congress 2008 (MWC2008), which will be held in Barcelona, Spain from Feb. 11-14.
"We are pleased to demonstrate, for the first time in the West, our latest technologies at the world's largest trade show for mobile devices," said Harushige Sugimoto, chief technology officer of Oki Electric Industry. "OKI leverages collective technologies to offer high-quality communication, security and entertainment in mobile devices. We believe that using mobile devices with our technologies will enable users to communicate whenever, wherever and with whomever in a secure manner, contributing towards an e-Society, full of ubiquitous services. Taking this trade show as an opportunity, we will deploy our products to the global market."
The OKI Face Sensing Engine is a software library that provides various facial image processing functions including face detection, tracking, feature point extraction, and personal identification from images or videos.
This highly-accurate middleware is optimized for the embedded systems market and requires a small memory size. As the process performance is one of the highest-class in the world, FSE has been embedded in various items including mobile phone cameras, digital cameras, mobile games and network services.
The Mobile oriented iris recognition middleware enables iris recognition, the highly-accurate biometrics recognition, through mobile devices. The middleware includes all necessary functions in a single package and is optimized for mobile devices, providing for highly-accurate user authentication on mobile devices.
eSound is a voice signal processing software library enabling high-quality voice communication superior to conventional phones. eSound is based on OKI's renowned high-quality VoIP technology that resolves packet loss, delay and jitter, and enables echo-canceling -- all of which are common issues for voice communication over IP networks. In addition, eSound includes My eSound(TM) (OKI Voice Band Enhancer), a function for high-quality communication even when the other party uses a conventional phone, and eSound Positioning, a next-generation voice service that can include direction to the voice. eSound can be embedded to communication devices such as mobile phones, PC softphones, home appliances and server systems. OKI will demonstrate this next generation sound service using My eSound, which is expected to be required from the market for high-quality mobile phone conversations.
