Samsung announced its latest camcorder today called the SC-HMX20C that records in full 1080p resolution. The camcorder records the full HD video at 30 fps and stores the video to flash memory. A docking station is included to charge and allow easy viewing of video on a TV.

The camcorder also functions as an 8MP still camera as well. “The SC-HMX20C offers consumers the ability to record their precious memories in full 1920x1080p HD quality. Because this camcorder records onto flash memory, it offers quick start-up, great battery life and one of the smallest bodies in the industry,” said Reid Sullivan, vice president of Digital Audio & Video Marketing at Samsung Electronics America. “The SC-HMX20C is extremely versatile and can be used to shoot HD video footage in virtually any situation. Everyone from aspiring filmmakers to parents shooting their children’s first birthday can capture their memories in beautiful HD quality.”

The CMOS sensor in the camera is a 6.4MP unit with electronic image stabilization. High speed capture of up to 300 frames per second is possible for up to 10 seconds and slow motion playback allows you to view fast action at a slower pace. Internal storage for the camcorder is 8GB and that is expandable via SDHC cards. The SC-HMX20 will be available in May at an undisclosed price.
