Rhapsody and Yahoo announced a new partnership for digital music today. Rhapsody will be the exclusive on-demand music service for Yahoo replacing Yahoo’s own Yahoo Music Unlimited service. Yahoo says it and Rhapsody will also be collaborating on a music download service as well.
Yahoo Music Unlimited subscribers will be migrated to Rhapsody’s service through a process that converts Yahoo libraries to Rhapsody. Yahoo says for a limited time Yahoo subscribers will be able to keep the Yahoo music price plan.
That statement would seemingly say that the Rhapsody service is more expensive than the Yahoo service was. “This agreement allows Yahoo! to continue its focus on being the Internet's leading starting point by creating an indispensable music experience that will drive music fans to Yahoo! first on their path to music discovery," said Scott Moore, Senior Vice President and Head of Media, Yahoo!.”Via Rhapsody
