We reported about the Gigabeat G21 the follow-up model to the Gigabeat G20 HD based MP3 Player in March.
The Toshiba Gigabeat G21 (MEG201) is still the thinnest 20GB MP3 Player as the G20 was. As reported the G21 has a couple of interesting improvements over the G20. The most interesting one is the Wi-fi feature built-in the optional docking station.
This makes the MEG201WL LAN addressable, meaning it can be just plugged into the network without connecting it to a PC directly and more than one PC can access the player's hard-drive using it as a 20GB shared drive.
The Toshiba G21 comes in Cosmo Black and Silver.
As with the G20, it does not look like Toshiba will bring the G21 to the US or European market. I really do not understand that. This 20GB MP3 Jukebox would have sizeable market if the price would be in the range of the comparable iPod.
In the meantime, Japanese Tech Gadget Exporter Dynamism.com has the Toshiba G21 on sale for $599 for the rest of the world. The Wireless (802.11b) cradle sells for $89.
I just came back from a trip in Europe and the Toshiba G20 worked perfectly for those long hours on the plane. My music of choice these days is the complete Hotel Costes Series (1-6).
