RIM introduced the free Unite-Server at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, it allows consumers to run push Email service from home.
To run your own Blackberry Push-Email service your PC needs to be always on. The RIM Unite-Server communicates directly with the infrastructure of the selected carrier of your mobile phone.
The Blackberry home server would also manage photos and videos.
The Unite-Server is first deployed in Spain with Telefonica. I could not find any press-release from RIM about the Unite-Server that reveals more details.
