New research from PriceGrabber.com shows that consumers are still waiting for a clear winner in the HD format wars before buying next generation DVD players. The report from PriceGrabber was based on a survey of 2,185 online shoppers conducted in mid January.
According to PriceGrabber's research 54% of buyers planning to get a high definition movie player in the next year plan on going Blu-ray. That is a surprising number since many consider HD DVD all but dead after Warner Brothers pulled out of the HD DVD camp in January.
PriceGrabber says that 375 of men polled don’t anticipate purchasing any format player over the next year and 42% of women say the same thing. PriceGrabber also says that its merchants offer 25% more titles in Blu-ray format than are offered in HD DVD format.
