For some reason it does not feel like a historic day, but it kind of is. The HD format war is over and HD DVD is history. Now the way is free for the high definition revolution the consumer electronics industry has beem talking about for years now.
Blu-ray disc is now the standard for high definition video on disc media. One of the prominent companies that have to do something very fast is Microsoft. The Xbox 360 with its HD DVD drive looks pretty silly now.
For the holiday shopping season 2008 I want to see a massive line-up of Blu-ray players with profile 2.0 support that cover all price and feature ranges to attract a broad consumer base.
Besides the major brands the second-tier electronics companies need to get into the Blu-ray player game.
Blu-ray disc prices need to come down under $20. Movie Rental services world-wide need to offer Blu-ray discs. Movie studios need to release as much as possible from their catalog in high definition.
You just have to save the money to get yourself a 1080p HDTV or HD LCD projector and surround system if do not own one yet.
