Intel’s rival to the OLPC XN Notebook is the Classmate. The Classmate PC is intended to be a low cost notebook for students in developing nations. ePals announced today that it has released educational applications designed to run on the Classmate notebook.
ePals also has a learning community that students and teachers can use that includes email, blog and translation tools. ePals says that its community connects 350,000 teachers and their classrooms from 200 countries around the world.
"Intel and ePals share a common goal of bringing high quality educational solutions to classrooms, students and families around the globe," said Ed Fish, President and CEO of ePals. "In the 21st century, this means helping students around the world use the Internet in a safe and protected context to develop global awareness, critical thinking and project- based collaboration. We are very pleased to work with Intel to bring ePals to an even wider, more diverse learning audience."
