Sony announced yesterday the new Blu-ray players BDP-S350 and BDP-S550. These new Blu-ray players support the latest Blu-ray Profile 2.0 giving you interactive features such as BonusView (Picture-in-Picture) and BD-Live.
Currently only the Sony PS3 can give you Blu-ray Profile 2.0 via a firmware upgrade. There is no date yet on when Sony will update the PS3 to support Blu-ray Profile 2.0.
The new Sony BDP-S350 and BDP-S550 will arrive this fall. The BDP-S350 has a list price of $400, I hope dearly that retailers will cut that price down significantly as you would also a PS3 for the same price.
More details about the new Sony Blu-ray players.
Sony will not be the only one who will offer new Blu-ray players this fall supporting the latest Blu-ray features. Blu-ray is now the only HD video disc format, there is no reason for any consumer electronics company to hold back resources.
