Dell announced its first fully ruggedized notebook computer this week called the Latitude XFR D630. Dell says the notebook is intended for government and commercial applications and is now available starting at $3899.
The D630 meets MIL-STD 810F for operation in extreme temperatures, moisture and altitude among others. Dell says that the rugged notebook shares common images and components with its line of Latitude notebooks.
The system uses SSD or HDD and has an outdoor readable screen with 500 nits brightness and an integrated resistive touch screen. The hard drive, core components and LCD are shock isolated and the keyboard is sealed to withstand rain and dust.
