AMD demonstrated its 45nm native quad-core processors at CeBIT in Germany this week. The processors were shown running multiple operating systems and running different processor intensive applications.
AMD says its 45nm transistors are engineered for higher performance-per-watt in AMD processors and platforms. To build the processors AMD combines new processors and materials with immersion lithography and 4th generation strained silicon.
AMD says the demo of the processors is the first milestone as AMD moves towards its target ship date for the 45nm CPUs including the server Shanghai and desktop Deneb later in 2008.
