Alienware announced a new version of its high performance Area-51 ALX desktop today that supports ATI’s recently announced CrossFireX. The ALX CrossFireX system uses a pair of ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 graphics cards.
"Alienware is extreme high-performance PC gaming," said Marc Diana, Product Marketing Manager for Alienware, "and expectations are never higher than when dealing with the ALX CrossFireX, our most sophisticated desktop system. Adding the awesome power of a quad graphics solution like CrossFireX to the ALX desktop is just one more way Alienware strives to deliver the world's best PC gaming experience."
Other features of the system include 45nm Intel processors and up to 4GB of RAM. Pricing for the system starts at $5149 with dual HD 3870 graphics cards in CrossFire. A pair of HD 3870 X2 cards in CrossFireX adds an additional $500 to the price of the system.
