According to Lou Panico, CEO of Xenon Corp the Blu-ray win in the format wars could help the economy and the environment. Bet you didn’t think a HD movie format could do those things did you? Xenon is a manufacturer of equipment for making the Blu-ray discs themselves.
Xenon says it is a world leader in pulsed UV technology and the leading producer of equipment used to make Blu-ray discs. The Xenon pulsed UV curing system is used to make both single and dual-layer Blu-ray discs.
How exactly will the end of the format war help the environment? Panico says, “Now that the industry has one high definition standard, consumer's earlier concerns about purchasing movies and players that might be obsolete is removed. With the huge capacity and clarity it offers, I see consumer sales rocketing with consumers purchasing Blu-ray compatible equipment as well as discs for their home TV sets and computers. And while many companies are outsourcing their products offshore, at Xenon we're manufacturing our products here, in Massachusetts, and exporting to other countries. This means more jobs in Massachusetts and a healthier economy."
